Downloading Podcasts

To download podcasts, you can use the following options:

Download iTunes. With iTunes release of its 4.9 version and higher, you can now subscribe for podcasts straight from the music player. Of course, the iTunes are heavily weighted to MSM's offerings, but, just the same, you can witness the amazing transformation occuring within MSM industry. Who would belief that a technology, born from the grassroots culture, could pervade big media industry so quickly. iTunes offers you a sampling of some of the best MSM and independent offerings. I highly recommend subscribing to some of the news feeds from iTunes.

The original application, iPodder, is available here for download. You will need to select the appropriate computer platform (PC/MAC). Once installed, the application can be accessed through clicking on the 'Lemon' icon. Through this application, you can sample the best of the podcast offerings from some of the top podcast aggregators and search engines that index podcasts. You have options of adding feeds directly through point-and-click reference to the directory, or through finding a feed from a podcast directory and manually adding the feed through the "Add feed" toolbar icon. iPodder is recommended for sampling a wider variety of podcasts beyond what we call "A-listers" to more of "niche media" (remember the long tail).

If you would like to learn more about iPodder, visit the user guide. There is a wealth of information on using the application, including how to set your preferences (scheduler) to allow automatic downloading of podcasts to your iTunes once iPodder is operational.

Have fun!
